The Annual Church Service

Knights entering in procession

As a Christian Order, the Province has held an Annual Church Service for many years, and when the Provincial Priory meeting was held in the Refectory at Chester Cathedral we were able to join in Evensong in the Cathedral itself.

Subsequently, services have been held at Parish Churches in Astbury and Marton – both near Congleton, Christleton, near Chester and Hawarden, in North Wales.

The Church Service commences with Knights in full regalia, led by the Provincial Sword Bearer and Banner Bearer escorting the Provincial Prior,  entering the church to the strains of “Onward Christian Soldiers” and the Service, led by the Rector and the Provincial Prelate, is dedicated to the Order.

Guests are always most welcome to the service and the refreshments which follow and the occasion is a most friendly and enjoyable one in the Provincial calendar. It is a most colourful opportunity to celebrate the roots of this magnificent Order.
